Located in the Porto Antico area, a sixteenth-century part of Genoa which was renovated by the architect Renzo Piano during the Columbiads, the aquarium was born from the collaboration of two profoundly different architectural concepts: that of the Genoese architect Renzo Piano (the exterior) and that of the American architect of Russian origin Chermayeff (the interior).
