Our commitment:

Best Western Hotel Porto Antico has joined Best Western Hotels Stay For the Planet program to ensure the sustainable management of its business by monitoring consumption, implementing energy efficiency actions and reducing its environmental impact through virtuous behavior. The hotel has adopted the criteria set by the Global Council for Sustainable Tourism (GSTC) and verified by the certification body Vireo, obtaining its certificate in 2024.

To ensure water saving, we have installed flow reducers in all our faucets. We ensure reuse systems by inviting our guests to put away only those towels that need to be replaced to reduce the impact of laundry use.

We purchase 100% renewable energy and adopt efficiency and home automation solutions to ensure lower energy consumption. Some of the solutions we have already adopted are: the use of thermostatic valves for hot water production, the installation of LED lighting systems to seek greater energy efficiency, the automatic interruption of room power when the Guest is absent, and the optimization of the use of cascading energy sources during the production cycle.

We monitor waste production and adopt behaviors to reduce the amount of waste and encourage the reduction of plastics and non-recyclable materials by seeking suppliers with less impact. In several common areas of the facility, there are special recycling bins with the aim of raising awareness to the Guest in the correct division of waste.

We have a plastic reduction policy in which we limit the use of disposable materials so as to reduce single-use packaging, select materials with less impact with our suppliers, favor recycled plastic products, choose reusable packaging, and prefer the use of dispensers for hygiene products. We encourage our Guests to use only the courtesy set they need to reduce any waste.

The Best Western Hotel Porto Antico is immersed in a structure full of history. It is a medieval-era building in which one can still contemplate historic architectural elements that have been preserved, for example, the original columns of the ancient building.

We collaborate with local institutions, cultural and artistic/cultural emergencies to promote the culture of the area. Some of these institutions and associations are: the Aquarium of Genoa, Convention Bureau, the Association of Hoteliers, etc. In addition, we collaborate with vocational schools to place young people in the Hotellerie industry.

We consciously manage purchasing for sustainable management of food and beverage services as well. We promote the territory by privileging and enriching breakfast with local products and zero-mile products. To contribute in raising awareness against food waste, we invite our Guests to choose what they really want to eat to avoid leaving unconsumed food on their plates.

The architectural conditions of the building and the surrounding environment have not allowed a better adaptation of our property to the needs of people with motor disabilities For more information or any assistance, please contact us by phone at +39 010 2518249 or email us at [email protected].

Best Western Hotel Porto Antico supports Music for Peace, a recognized non-governmental organization that offers support in the following areas: local support with food, school and basic necessities, health care with clinic and dispensary, educational projects with schools, cultural and entertainment initiatives accessible to all.

Genoa offers visitors a remarkable green heritage, featuring historic parks that narrate stories of nobility, art, and botany. These gardens, once part of aristocratic villas, are now public spaces where natural beauty harmoniously blends with architecture and culture. Among the most captivating parks are the Villetta Di Negro, the scenic Villa Durazzo Pallavicini in Pegli, and the Nervi Parks. Strolling through these parks, you can discover charming corners, fountains, lakes, and a variety of rare plants, all enhanced by cultural events that take place throughout the year.

Offshore, the Pelagos Sanctuary—a marine protected area dedicated to the conservation of cetaceans—serves as a symbol of international cooperation for the protection of the sea. Together, both land and sea illustrate Genoa’s commitment to environmental conservation.
