We are a hotel management company based in Genoa, Italy, with over 70 years’ experience in the art of hospitality.
Our mission is to meet the needs and wishes of our guests and customers by:
Our vision is to become the first choice for hospitality and culinary experiences. We work every day to become the go-to destination for those seeking unique travel and dining experiences in Genoa and the Golfo Paradiso.
Best Western Hotel Porto Antico has joined Best Western Hotels’ ‘Stay For the Planet’ programme to ensure the sustainable management of its operations by monitoring consumption, implementing energy-efficiency measures and reducing its environmental impact through responsible practices. We have adopted the criteria set out by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and verified by the certification body Vireo, obtaining the relevant certificate in 2024
To ensure water is saved, we have fitted flow restrictors to all our taps. We promote water reuse by asking our guests to return only those towels they wish to have replaced, in order to reduce the environmental impact of linen use.
We purchase 100% renewable energy and implement energy-efficiency and home automation solutions to ensure lower energy consumption. Some of the measures we have already implemented include: the use of thermostatic valves for hot water production, the installation of LED lighting systems to improve energy efficiency, the automatic switching off of power to guest rooms when guests are absent, and the optimisation of the use of cascading energy sources during the production cycle.
We monitor waste production and take steps to reduce the amount of waste generated; we also encourage the reduction of plastic and non-recyclable materials by seeking out suppliers with a lower environmental impact. Dedicated recycling bins are provided in various communal areas of the premises with the aim of raising guests’ awareness of how to sort their waste correctly.
We have a plastic reduction policy under which we limit the use of disposable materials in order to reduce single-use packaging; we work with our suppliers to select materials with a lower environmental impact; we prioritise products made from recycled plastic; we choose reusable packaging; and we favour the use of dispensers for hygiene products. We encourage our guests to use only the toiletries they need to minimise waste.
The Best Western Hotel Porto Antico is housed in a building steeped in history. It is a medieval building where you can still admire the historic architectural features that have been preserved, such as the original columns of the ancient structure.
We work with local and cultural organisations, as well as arts and culture initiatives, to promote the local culture. Some of these organisations and associations include: the Genoa Aquarium, the Convention Bureau, the Hoteliers’ Association, etc. We also work with vocational colleges to help young people enter the hospitality sector.
We take a mindful approach to procurement to ensure sustainable management of our food and beverage services. We promote the local area by prioritising and enhancing our breakfast offering with local and zero-kilometre produce. To help raise awareness about food waste, we encourage our guests to choose only what they really wish to eat, so as to avoid leaving uneaten food on their plates.
Due to the architectural layout of the building and the surrounding area, it has not been possible to make further adjustments to our premises to meet the needs of people with mobility impairments. Genoa offers its visitors an extraordinary green heritage, with historic parks that tell stories of nobility, art and botany. These gardens, which once belonged to aristocratic villas, are now public spaces where natural beauty blends with architecture and culture. Among the most fascinating are the Villetta Di Negro, the spectacular Villa Durazzo Pallavicini in Pegli and the Parks of Nervi. Strolling through these parks, you can discover picturesque spots, fountains, ponds and a variety of rare plants, all enhanced by cultural events that bring the city to life throughout the year.
Out at sea, the Pelagos Sanctuary — a marine protected area dedicated to the conservation of cetaceans — stands as a symbol of international cooperation for the protection of the sea. Together, land and sea reflect Genoa’s commitment to environmental conservation.
