After four weeks in Italy staying in a variety of properties, this was our best room. The friendly helpful woman at reception started our good impression. We had arrived early and wanted to leave our luggage while we went out to explore and she said, you can leave it in your room. The red textured wallpaper was a bright and cheerful change from muted pastel colours. For the first time, we had space to open both suitcases. The mini fridge was appreciated and we were able to use it for our own drinks as well as those provided by the hotel. We have become concerned about our safety in rooms with a shower over a slippery bath but portoantico has a step in shower. And we liked the fact that there was a light over the shower which came on first. Breakfast was good; yoghurts and butter were stored in a small fridge. The staff were constantly that the supplies of food were kept up. The location is good and we were able to walk around the old part of town. Seeing the fake (made for a movie) 17th century galleon in the harbour at the end of the street was a happy surprise. And we can recommend the gourmet pizzas at Savo, just across the road.
